日本政府は、世界で「唯一の戦争被爆国」として戦後、非核三原則をはじめ核兵器への忌避感を表明してきた。その一方で他国の核兵器使用については、否認してこなかった側面もある。本書は、このような日本の非核アイデンティティと日米安保を主軸とした核の傘の下にあるジレンマのなかで日本と核兵器との関係がいかに形成され、変容してきたのか、戦後から現代までの 80年を通史の形で捉える。＊本書紹介文より

7. Abstract of the Forum
Japan's postwar identity as the world's only nation to have suffered atomic bombings in war has long been associated with a strong aversion to nuclear weapons, most notably through its adoption of the Three Non-Nuclear Principles. At the same time, however, Japanese officialdom has not entirely rejected the use of nuclear weapons by other countries, especially by the U.S. as an ally. This book traces how Japan's relationship with nuclear weapons has been shaped and transformed over the past eighty years—amid the dilemma between its non-nuclear identity and its reliance on the “nuclear umbrella” under the Japan–U.S. security framework.
