2020年7月31日（18時～20時）、平和学研究科進学説明会がオンラインで開催されました。中国新聞での告知が直前になったため、主にウェブサイトでのお知らせになりましたが、国内外から11名の方に参加していただきました。
当日は、平和学研究科の紹介スライドショーの上映からはじまり、大芝研究科長から平和学研究科の概要について説明がありました（写真1）。引き続き、入試担当が入学試験概要について説明を行い、現役院生の見た平和学研究科と題して、生の平和学研究科大学院生ライフを聞く機会が設けられました（写真2）。

その後、Zoomのブレイクアウトルーム機能を用いた質疑応答に移りました。平和学研究科の全専任教員（写真3）は、法、政治、アジア、歴史、For English Speaker、大学院生、大学教育・入試制度、各種質問対応といった各部屋に分かれ、参加者との間で日本語、英語、韓国語による質疑応答の時間が設けられました。
部屋を自由に移動しながら多くの教員・スタッフに質問を投げかけた参加者もいれば、一つの部屋で長時間にわたり教員・スタッフと話し込む参加者もいるなど、それぞれの参加者が思い思いのスタイルで進学・入試・大学院生活などについて情報を得たり、意見交換したりする場となりました。
今回、シンガポールやカザフスタンなどの海外や、東北地方や関東地方からの参加者もいたことで、物理的な距離を克服するオンラインの良さを改めて実感することができました。最後にはブレイクアウトルームからメインの部屋に全員が戻り、閉会の挨拶となりましたが、参加者のみなさんの笑顔が印象的でした。
今回のオンライン進学説明会は平和学研究科では初めての試みであったこともあり、試行錯誤を重ねましたが、参加者をはじめ、教員・スタッフ、大学院生のみなさまのご協力によりとても充実した時間になりました。改めまして御礼申し上げます。
次回、第2回オンライン進学説明会は11月に開催予定です。今回の経験を踏まえ、よりよい形でさらに満足いただける説明会にしたいと思います。是非、ご参加いただければ幸いです。

Online Briefing Session on Admission (July 2020)
On the night of July 31, 2020, a briefing session was held online at the Graduate School of Peace Studies. Since the announcement is mainly through the HPI homepage, a small number of participants was expected. However, 11 people joined the session from Japan and overseas. Following the slide show on the Graduate School of Peace Studies, Dean Oshiba gave an overview of the Graduate School of Peace Studies as opening remarks (Photo 1). Subsequently, the outline of the entrance examination was explained. After that, a master’s student of the Graduate School of Peace Studies made a presentation to present an opportunity to hear about the real life of graduate school from the perspective of active graduate students (Photo 2).
After various presentations, questions and answers were held using Zoom's breakout room function. All full-time faculty members of the Graduate School of Peace Studies (Photo 3) were divided into rooms such as law, politics, Asia, history, for English speakers, graduate students, university education/admissions system, and various questions. Participants asked many questions in Japanese, English, and Korean. Some participants moved between rooms, and some participants talked with the teachers/staff for a long time in one room. I was impressed by the fact that there were participants from overseas such as Singapore and Kazakhstan, as well as from the Tohoku and the Kanto region, thanks to the online venue which overcome physical distance. At the end of the day, everyone returned from the breakout rooms to the main room for the closing remarks with smiles from all participants.
Although this online briefing session was a first-time trial, it ended successfully with the great organizational work of Prof. Ha and Mr. Akishima. Also, I would like to thank participants who joined the session, and the all faculty/staff/graduate students. The next online briefing session is scheduled to be held in early November.
